SPAH

SPAH, The Society for the Preservation and Advancement of the Harmonica, is an international non-profit organization incorporated in the state of Michigan in 1963. With almost 1000 members, SPAH is the largest international harmonica association. Many of the finest harmonica players in the world are members of SPAH. All genres are represented including; classical, jazz, blues, rock, folk, country, popular and more! SPAH hosts a five day convention in August of every year in a major USA city. These conventions bring together over 500 harmonica enthusiasts of all different playing levels from many different countries. Top performers from around the globe do headline shows every night and during the day seminars and workshops take place. Perhaps the most fun part of a SPAH convention is the camaraderie and fellowship that is enjoyed by all during the jam sessions that happen throughout the days and nights. Everybody gets into the act at a SPAH convention no matter what type of music they play or their level of expertise. It is not uncommon to find yourself sitting next to a headline performer doing their thing while you are doing yours!

I am proud to be a member of the SPAH organization. I am involved with seminars and discussion groups at the annual convention. I also sit on the Board of Directors as the Publicity Director.

The website address is www.spah.org . I encourage you to check it out and consider becoming a member if you have any interest in the harmonica. I guarantee that it will change your life and improve your playing at the same time! The annual convention is in Bloomington, MN this year, August 17-21, 2010. Details and updates will be on the website. I would love to see you there!
